Keiser introduces Modular Zero Home at Oxford Hills Housing Show
Apr 28, 2010
Posted In: General
The Modular Home & Building Manufacturer will Host a Seminar Focusing on Sustainable Building and Renewable Energy in addition to conducting Factory and Model Home Tours during Annual Event.

Homebuyers interested in new homes that are energy efficient and incorporate green design and features will be interested to know that Keiser Industries, LLC has recently announced that it will be hosting a green building seminar during the Oxford Hills Home Show to be held April 24th, 2010. The Oxford Hills Home Show is a three day event in which multiple modular builders and Keiser, one of the two remaining Maine modular manufacturers, host open houses, tours, and similar events to acquaint potential home buyers and other interested parties with the modular manufacturing process, the buying experience, and the quality and value available in today’s modular homes. The event brings together a number of companies that ordinarily compete against each other on a day-to-day basis with the intent of educating the home buying public of the advantages of system built homes.
This year Keiser will be furthering the goal of educating potential home buyers by providing them with the opportunity to learn more about the field of sustainable, or green, building. Green building focuses on energy efficiency, resource conservation, reducing greenhouse gases and improving indoor air quality. These goals are achieved through the use of better insulation, superior fixtures and appliances, and thoughtful design. While many people associate green building with higher costs and sacrificing comfort and personal preferences, Keiser can show how the green building process can result in increased enjoyment of the home and long-term savings. Keiser’s green building seminar will feature presentations from experts in the areas of Energy Star for Homes; Energy Star Appliances; Renewable Solar, Wind and Geothermal Energy Solutions; and Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED). In addition, Keiser and Kaplan Thompson Architects of Portland, Maine will present the Modular Zero Home (MZH), which they collaboratively designed. The MZH will generate, through solar panels and other technology, as much energy as it consumes for heat and power over the course of a year. The Modular Zero Home incorporates many of the designs and products that will be discussed during the seminar. It also provides an example of how these concepts can be brought together to achieve a beautiful, comfortable home which is reasonably priced, inexpensive to maintain and has a substantially lower environmental impact than other forms of new construction.
