Annual Membership Meeting

Minutes
Nick Sherman called the MHBA Annual meeting to order and welcomed the members. Everyone introduced themselves.
Nick thanked the HBRA Association Master Sponsors:
- Nelson & Small – Ed Smith
- Keeley Crane Service – Ben Keeley, Jim Keeley, Rich Hott
- Hancock Lumber Company – Matt Corbett
- Harvey Building Products – Kevin Ferrigan
- Maine Energy Marketers Association – Jamie Py
- EnergyUSA Propane – Scott Brown
- Tapley Insurance Agency – Wendy Tapley
Nick provided the highlights of MHBA activity for 2010/2011 – attached.
Guest Speaker:
Dale Holmes, RD Housing Programs Director, spoke about “Rural Development Financing for New Homebuyers”. Dale provided information on the goals of the Rural Development loan program, including information on the different types of RD programs available, eligibility criteria for applicants, eligible properties, and loan purposes.
Nominating Committee Report:
- Ena Derenbureger read the slate of nominees and reviewed elections/voting process.
- Call for Nominations from the floor was made.
- There being no nominations from the floor, the vote was called.
- The following were elected as directors to serve a two-year term:
- Joe Martin
- Kate Rush
- Ed Smith
Government Services Committee Update:
- Kate Rush address several legislative issues including LD 1253 which amends the MUBEC in a number of areas and LD 1416 which alters the MUBEC considerably, requiring that only municipalities with a population over 4,000 are mandated to adopt/enforce the MUBEC.
Modular Building Code Stakeholders Group:
- Andy Grant is working with the Manufactured Housing Board to update the building code.
- Andy provided a brief summary of some of the areas that are being reviewed.
- Minutes of all the building codes meetings will be provided to MHBA members so that they are aware of the areas being discussed and can provide feedback to Andy to take back to the group.
Overview of MHBA Goals for 2011/2012 (attached) was provided by Nick Sherman.
