- MHBA On-Going Business:
- Government Affairs: monitoring proposed legislation with the potential to impact our industry; member mobilization as needed (e.g. sprinklers)
- Membership: successful Fall recruitment drive
- Communications: MHBA website (including News page); E-Newsletter; Social Media (Facebook); Press Releases; Logo & Brochure
- MHBA Short- & Long-Term Goals:
- Continuing Education: ultimate goal of Maine Manufactured Housing Board accreditation for all licensees
- Improving Professionalism within Modular Industry: Continuing Education; Home Inspections; Code of Ethics
- Appraisal Database: gather new home sales data and distribute to appraisers statewide to aid in the effort of improved appraisal results (i.e. higher valuations)
- Maine Manufactured Housing Board Code Update: active MHBA representation in the code update process to yield a current and balanced modular building code.
- Maine Uniform Building & Energy Code (MUBEC) and Its Impact on the Modular Industry
- Andy Grant / Keiser Homes presented a very detailed review of the new statewide building code (MUBEC) and how it affects modular builders and manufacturers. Many new issues were brought to light and attendees left with a new understanding of their respective responsibilities. Thank you Andy!
- Maine Manufactured Housing Board (MMHB) Update
- David Cuttler / Keiser Homes, a member of the MMHB, updated the attendees on what is happening at the Board level. Specific attention was given to the code update process presently underway.
- MUBEC Legislation Status:
- Sandy Mathieu / MHBA Executive Director shared the status of several proposed bills that would alter or eliminate the MUBEC. None of the proposed legislation has yet to pass, but Sandy is monitoring the developments and will alert members to any “calls to action.”
