MHBA elects new officers, focuses on future

Jun 30, 2010
Posted In: General

The Modular Home Builders Association of Maine recently held their annual meeting in Norway where they discussed the organization's direction and elected new officers.

Newly elected MHBA president, Nick Sherman, of Hallmark Homes in Topsham, spoke to members of the Association at the Norway Country Club and emphasized the importance of continuing initiatives begun by Scott Stone, past president.

“Scott's efforts to keep our members optimistic, organized, and undeterred in their commitment to professional excellence and integrity shows his faith in the modular industry,” Sherman said. “He inspired confidence when it was needed most, and I hope to continue to serve this organization, and this industry, with his kind of enthusiasm.”

The initiatives Sherman plans to continue include: maintaining a focus on legislative monitoring and response; public relations and member communications; continuing education for members; member and sponsor recruitment; networking opportunities and  broader member involvement.

Sherman also addressed the members with other thoughts for 2010 – 2011, which include using an appraisal database specific to modular construction and exploring the possibility of collaborative efforts with the Home Builders and Remodelers Association for continuing education.

Ena Derenburger, of Turn Key Homes in Oxford, was elected vice-president, and Ron Gray, of Coastline Homes in Ellsworth and Hollis, was elected secretary/treasurer.

The Modular Home Builders Association of Maine is proactive with issues affecting members, consumers, and public policy. The Association establishes and promotes practices and standards for excellence in homebuilding.
