Nov 30, 2010

"The Maine Uniform Building and Energy Code statute does not apply to Manufactured Housing as defined in Title 10, Chapter 951. Title 10, section 9724 exempts Manufactured Homes from the MUBEC code. There are no current changes to the modular construction code. We do plan to update the editions of the codes that we adopt over the next year or so. Attached is the section of the MUBEC that exempts Manufactured Homes." Bob Leclair

While the law does NOT include the language that NAHB fought for to expand housing production loans for small builders, we continue to push for new legislation that will correct this critical omission. What IS included in the current law, however, are $12 billion in tax breaks designed to help the small business community. Items of note to home builders are listed.
